Digital X-Ray

Digital x-rays are quickly becoming the standard of care for many reasons:

* they require less radiation than film

* they provide an immediate image - just like a digital camera there is no waiting for film processing

* they provide a consistent image - film may come out dark or light or have scratches because of processing

* they provide a digital image enlarged on a screen in front of you instead of looking at a tiny film held up to a light

* they can easily be sent to the insurance company or a specialist and they will receive the same high quality image we have instead of a poor quality film duplicate

Many offices now have digital sensors for the 'small' intraoral x-rays taken inside your mouth while still using film for the 'big' panoramic x-rays which go around your head. These are used often for children and for 'wisdom teeth' as well as adults who do not have much dental work.
